Too many apples, not enough time? Apple butter is freezable and makes a lovely addition to any local cheese board.
6 lb Mcintosh, Red Delicious, Gala or other mix of sweet apples, peeled, cored and wedged
1 C maple syrup
2 T ground cinnamon
1 t fine sea salt

Add ingredients to slow cooker, cook on low all day, stir carefully until apples break down, thicken and darken.
For smoother apple butter, blend and run through a food mill. Let cool, divide into containers, refrigerate or freeze.
