Hunger in America

The everyday ritual of gathering together to share a meal inspires so much of what we do at Simon Pearce. Our new Townshend Collection sheds light on the need to do more to care for our neighbors.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, unemployment has soared and food insecurity is on the rise. Feeding America’s nationwide network of 200 local food banks and 60,000 food pantries and meal programs has been there.

In an effort to help those in need find peace and nourishment, Simon Pearce is committed to donating 500,000 meals to support Feeding America’s efforts to end hunger.*

Millions of children and families living in America face hunger and food insecurity every day.

Due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, more than 54 million people may experience food insecurity in 2020, including a potential 18 million children and 5.5 million seniors.
63% of senior households served by the Feeding America network are forced to choose between food and medical care.
Every community in the country is home to families who struggle with food insecurity including rural and suburban communities.
Many households that experience food insecurity do not qualify for federal nutrition programs and need to rely on their local food banks and other hunger relief organizations for support.
